5.1.6. Applicant name: Incorporated association

Incorporated associations are legal persons and are therefore entitled to own a design. Associations may be incorporated under state laws and also be registered under Commonwealth legislation. If the association is registered under Commonwealth legislation it will have an Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN). ​​​​​​​

Applicant names that just reference an association, for example ‘XYZ123 Association’, is unlikely to be acceptable unless accompanying documentation is included or a proprietor search shows the association is an incorporated body.
