6.9. Representations: Photographs

Date Published

Photos must be taken against a neutral background that contrasts with the product so that the details are clear.

Example

Product name: Pool toy

Representations:

Different photos of the same product sometimes appear to show different designs. This can be caused by lighting or by the angle of the photo. Generally we can assume that minor colour variations are caused by factors such as lighting. If all the other visual features are the same, there is no need to query the application. However, strong shadows are problematic because they are likely to confuse important details.

Example

Product name: Staple gun

Representations:

Whilst some views of the product slightly differ in terms of colour, this is acceptable because it is reasonable to attribute the variations to lighting/angle. A single design is applicable.
