4.2.3.4.2 Correction of MCD Data

Date Published

Occasionally an incorrect IPC symbol is captured in PAMS and incorrectly published in the Master Classification Data (MCD).  The data can be corrected within PAMS but the following procedures are required to manually correct the data on the MCD.

  • Inform your senior examiner of the issue
  • If the senior examiner agrees with the suggested correction, the senior examiner should email the PSS team in ITG (Email MDB-BPITS) requesting a correction of the MCD data. This email should include the following information:
  • AU application number
  • IPC classification mark to be corrected
  • Corrected IPC classification symbol

Generally this procedure should only be followed for incorrect MCD data relating to published accepted specifications. The MCD data for applications not yet accepted will be automatically updated after publication of acceptance.
