10.2.5 Application Data and Supporting Tools
Overview
Some application information is prepopulated into the QP Portal. The extent of prepopulation may vary because application data is manually entered by IP Australia staff and may be captured differently as the transition to the new QP Portal progresses. QPs should carefully review all pre-filled fields before submission.
Why isn’t all information prepopulated?
Application data is manually entered by IP Australia staff. Some data may have been missed, and prepopulation may vary as IP Australia transitions to the new QP Portal.
When you enter application data into the QP Portal, it will be prepopulated into future documents for the same application.
You should review all pre-filled fields carefully before submission.
What if details that I cannot edit are incorrect?
If application details are incorrect, such as:
variety name
botanical name
applicant details
then:
these fields cannot be edited in the portal
you can continue to enter information into your PETA or detailed description
do not submit the document
the applicant or agent must contact the PBR Office to request corrections
Corrected details will be updated in the portal once amended in the system.
Can I request data to help select comparator varieties?
Yes.
You may:
use the PBR Search tool
contact the PBR Office for assistance on pbr@ipaustralia.gov.au
Examiners may provide extracted data, for example in Excel format, from previous descriptions. This data can be filtered to assist with identifying comparator varieties.
