Searching has evolved to the point where it is now predominantly performed by electronic means, such as by accessing online databases via AbS or STN, or the Internet and using techniques such as keyword searching.
Australian patent data can also be searched by examiners using Australian Patent Search, which is IP Australia's web based search tool found at https://ipsearch.ipaustralia.gov.au/patents. The Australian collection including non-OPI material can be searched using APST.
